HittersBox hitting and pitching instructor John Matulia is currently a professional baseball player with the Tampa Bay Rays. Matulia spent the 2010 season with the Rays’ double-A affiliate, the Montgomery Biscuits. He batted .269 and led the team in RBI’s and doubles. He was selected by the Rays in the 10th round of the June 2005 First-Year Player Draft from Eustis High School.
In high school, Matulia was selected to play in the All-American games as well as named the Orlando Sentinel's Lake/Sumter Player of the Year. He originally committed to pitch and play outfield for the University of Florida but decided to forego his scholarship to play professional baseball.
